For Beginning and Advanced Students
Glass Fusing also called kiln formed glass offers an outlet for creativity; for those
who are artistically blessed as well as those who are artistically challenged. As
Petra always says: "Glass is difficult to mess up". You will be able to create anything
from functional to expressive from Jewelry to Sculpture, from Table Ware to Wall
Art -
possible in the craft of glass fusing.
This class will combine beginning and advanced students. The procedures and techniques that will be taught in this class will include compatibility & testing, basic fusing techniques, annealing, and slumping. Art glass, recycled glass and stringers will be used to produce tiles, dishes, and jewelry. Bottle & window glass will be transformed into fascinating forms. The advanced kiln forming techniques take fusing to another level. Mold making, pattern bars, combing and casting will be some of the techniques explored.
The class will be a hands on experience using these methods to create original pieces. The cost of materials depends on the projects you are making. Small jewelry pieces require less glass than big bowls and plates. Working in glass can become costly but Petra will show you how to use it economically and your finished work will generally exceed the value of the
material.

You never have to miss a class!
A new class is offered every 4 weeks. If you have to miss a class, you will have the option to make up for it either on a different day of the week or in one of the following sessions. (If space is available).
You can sign up for a Wednesday or Thursday class.
